About CupMath

CupMath does one thing: it scales recipe measurements and tells you exactly which cups and spoons to use for the result. Halving ¾ cup, thirding a tablespoon, doubling ⅔ cup — the fractions that make you stop mid-recipe and reach for your phone.

How the numbers are calculated

Every conversion is computed with exact fraction arithmetic — no floating-point rounding — using the standard US customary ladder:

When a scaled result isn't measurable with standard cups and spoons (a twelfth of a teaspoon, say), we say so and give the closest practical measurement instead of pretending precision that your spoon drawer can't deliver.

Gram weights follow widely used US baking references: 120 g per cup of spooned-and-leveled all-purpose flour, 200 g per cup of granulated sugar, 227 g per cup of butter, and so on. Different flours and techniques vary — for critical baking, weigh your ingredients.
